THE 101
Top AI monitoring tools
Below are three tools with AI visibility monitoring capabilities to help understand your brand's current share of voice on LLMs. Brand visibility on these AI features is just one piece of the broader SEO strategy. This should include holistically enhancing brand awareness across the entire internet.
This is not an exhaustive list. Have a tool? Tell us here and we’ll update this guide.
Ahrefs
Overview: Ahrefs is one of the best all-around SEO tools in the industry and offers a lot of AI-driven and monitoring components. It integrates AI “into every corner” of the platform, including for keyword research, content creation and technical SEO.
AI monitoring capabilities: Brand Radar monitors and analyzes how your brand appears anywhere across the internet, combining insights on AI visibility, search demand and overall web mentions. It provides a benchmark against your competitive set, monitors sentiment through share of voice and finds “valuable AI citations” (i.e., the mentions in responses that are enhancing your visibility).
Also offers:
AI Content Helper: Analyzes a URL and suggests optimizations based on the existing content, target keywords and the potential ranking opportunities on search;
Keywords Explorer with AI: Provides keyword suggestions and intents;
AI Detector for Technical SEO: Uses AI to automate technical fixes while also detecting AI-generated content to safeguard against penalties;
Translations: Uses AI to translate keyword lists in 40+ languages with complete metrics for international markets.
Profound
Overview: Profound only offers AI visibility tools for big companies trying to increase their presence on AI platforms. In an interview with Fortune, co-founder James Cadwallader called the AI surge in marketing a “Game of Thrones power shift” from decades of search engine optimization tactics to a new world of AI search, and built Profound to empower sites to adapt to this changing landscape.
AI monitoring capabilities: Profound’s main tool provides four ways to get a full view of your LLM visibility.
Answer Engine Insights: Tracks how often your brand appears in AI platforms, the share of voice and sentiment while identifying citations;
Conversation Explorer: Offers near real-time analysis into what readers are asking AI tools with metrics around prompts, topics and conversation volume (how often and in what context a brand or related topic is mentioned);
Agent Analytics: Looks at how AI crawlers are interpreting your site, including an analysis of technical health;
Shopping insights: E-commerce focused, this feature monitors how products appear in AI environments and provides response analysis to help refine product pages.
Also offers:
Copilot & AI Strategist: Analyzes content and provides recommendations for AI search.
Semrush
Overview: As a leading SEO tool, Semrush was among the first to really build out its AI offerings. It offers analysis of your brand in specific AI platforms, while also making use of AI within its keyword overview tool and other features.
AI monitoring capabilities: Semrush's AI Toolkit is robust, helping sites uncover "actionable results" for their brands. It is used to monitor brand presence, sentiment and visibility across AI platforms, but also lets you compare with your competitors.
Semrush also recently added the ability to track AI Mode, which recently rolled out nationally across the U.S., in its Position Tracking tool.
Also offers:
Enterprise AIO: Generates AI-driven reports based on prompts with metrics like share of voice or prompt trends;
AI Overview Reports in Organic & Domain Overview;
Semrush Copilot: AI-powered assistant that centralizes insights from all of the platform’s tools and delivers prioritized recommendations.
The bottom line: There are a ton of tools that offer AI monitoring and tracking capabilities. Above are just three of the leading industry tools and how they monitor brand visibility. Tell us your favourite and we’ll add it to the guide.
