Community guidelines for WTF is SEO? calls, panels and Slack group

Posted March 2025

Please read these guidelines carefully before participating in our community.

We will remove you from a community call or our Slack channel for failing to abide by these guidelines:

1. Purpose and participation

  • WTF is SEO? community calls are a space for collaborative knowledge-sharing and industry discussion.

  • Everyone is encouraged to contribute thoughtful insights, experiences, and relevant data to enrich the conversation.

  • Keep discussions focused and constructive — off-topic tangents or monopolizing the conversation will not be permitted.

  • Self-promotion is not permitted in our community calls or on our Slack. Please refrain from commandeering conversations to discuss your own projects at the expense of audience participation.

  • If you would like to introduce an article, product or event for the news SEO community, you MUST check with Jessie and Shelby by DM before posting. Failure to do so will result in your post being removed.

2. No self-promotion or product pitches

  • Strictly no promotion of personal products, services, or tools or technologies.

  • Do not mention or push your own company, product, or consultancy unless it is explicitly requested by a WTF is SEO? team member.

  • Do not solicit promotion via DMs to other Slack community members.

  • If you consistently redirect the conversation toward your offerings, we will restrict your participation in Slack and future calls.

3. Respectful and balanced engagement

  • Be concise and to the point. Long-winded answers limit others' ability to contribute.

  • Avoid dominating the discussion; let others have space to speak.

  • Moderators may step in if someone is overly verbose, repetitive, or off-topic.

4. Moderation and enforcement

  • WTF is SEO? moderators will redirect the conversation if and when necessary to keep within the topic of the call.

  • If someone repeatedly disregards the guidelines, they may be muted or removed from future calls.

By joining our community, you agree to uphold these guidelines. Let’s keep the discussion professional, valuable, and respectful.

Please reach out to WTF is SEO? (Jessie and Shelby) if you have any questions, comments or concerns about the above guidelines.
